The Novel Corona Virus is challenging not only health care providers – who are putting their lives on the line minute-by-minute to selflessly save the life of a few, if not the many, but also our intellectuals, scientists, governments, social systems and all of us to come up with solutions to save our planet and protect lives.
Education
With the education system as severely hit as it is, this initiatives utilises service learning to both redress gaps in conventional education while addressing the needs of the vulnerable in the community and building resilience from ground-up to attend to emerging challenges as priorities change into the post pandemic planet.
It is inclusive, interconnected, integrated, interdisciplinary, intersectoral, interinstitutional and intergenerational. We customise multimedia communications, outreach, advocacy research learning and educational materials and resources for any age industry locale or discipline.
This provides for opportunities for other sectors to play an active part in rural development as well as in resuscitating urban areas.
It mobilises all to safeguard the disappearing knowledge of elders and districts, now further endangered by the Novel Corona Virus (nCov) aka COVID-19.
Some Components of the GLoCal COVID FEDS Challenge
The first component, FEDs – Our Families, Our Elders, Our Districts, Bridging the Distance in Social Distancing is a quarantine-safe and social distancing friendly lifelong learning initiative. It amalgamates formal, informal and non formal education and community outreach techniques to capture and safeguard valuable endangered knowledge heritage. At the same time, it aims to strengthen the resilience of families and communities to COVID-19 as a quarantine- and social distancing-safe initiative. Further, it has inbuilt disaster mitigation and sustainable development components to help families and communities prepare for facing the potential escalation of the COVID-19, securing their families and communities and future the Post Pandemic Planet into the World We Want.
It will engage persons of all ages from three to 103 and while the pilot experiments were conducted with early childhood centres in Trinidad and Tobago, it has relevance and replicability for families and communities across the planet.
