Named as global changemaker, 1 of 3 helper initiatives, 1 of 9 World Pulse women using digital technology to share stories about health crisis
As global Corona Virus cases near 2.5 million, I am honoured and humbled at the kudos coming in for this portal’s Novel GloCaL FEDs COVID Challenge has been identified as one of three ‘helper’ initiatives and to be named among nine World Pulse women changemakers reaching out and speaking up, using digital technology to share stories about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. See video below also on YouTube linked here.
With foresight to not recreate the diseased systems and processes that gripped the world we knew, we could emerge stronger as we utilise this time to restore respect and strengthen the microscopic strands that comprise the fabric of our social, cultural, educational, economic and political tapestry.
Dr Kris Rampersad, creator, the GloCal FEDs COVID Challenge and World Pulse Ambassador
The recognition comes from World Pulse, an international gender empowerment network, represented in some 190 countries.
While the Corono Virus grips our weaknesses, the GloCaL FEDs COVID Challenge taps into individual and community strengths to build resilience and confidence to reshape institutions and systems of education, trade, economy, finance, towards creating the World We Want in the Post Pandemic Planet. The GloCaL FEDs COVID Challenge – Our Families, Our Elders, Our Districts (FEDs) for Global Local Caribbean communities (GloCaL) is issued through the Knowledge Research Information Services and Resources portal (www.krisrampersad.com), a voluntary, not-for-profit platform to harness knowledge, skills, experience, resources and opportunities.
While the sweep of the Novel Corona Virus across the world is nothing short of tragic – with its rising death toll, debilitating impact on health, fracturing of established socio-economic, financial, and political systems – it is forcing refocus on many minute elements that make up our humanity on which we have been fast losing focus.
Focus on Families Elders Districts to strengthen strands in social fabric
The GloCal FEDs Challenge invites all to identify and encourage global to local level pathways for utilising the focus on families, elders and communities that isolation and social distance mandates have now imposed owing to the Novel Corona, towards rebuilding and restoring the value of these essential strands in the social fabric as we prep for the Post Pandemic Planet.
It seeks solutions to many of general as well as gender-specific issues arising from the COVID-19 heatlh crisis raised by women within the Worldpulse community, by educators as those in the National Geographic Educator community and other associates in the wider world as it proposes actions to engage care for the elderly, youth and adult education, gender sensitive action, respect for cultural diversity, harnessing traditional knowledge, as well as retraining and lifelong learning, social and economic adjustment and recovery and heritage, and ecological conservation in the Post Pandemic Planet.
Leading change in prep for the post pandemic planet.
The kudos come from both the general Worldpulse community and women leaders from as far and wide a spectrum as Nigeria, Nepal, Philippines and Canada. They include:
“This is a tremendous initiative, Yes, now we have the challenge to build our post pandemic planet into the world we want, the world we see possible, the world we have been longing for. Congratulations on creating this & thank you for the blueprint that can be an inspiration for us in our countries!”
– Kudos for Dr Kris GloCaL FEDs COVID Challenge, WorldPulse, Canada

Global Local Caribbean Solutions-building for post pandemic planet
Without ignoring the debilitating and shattering effects of the Novel Corona Virus Pandemic, the GloCaL FEDs COVID Challenge proposes and presents novel perspectives in futuring and foresighting the upside of COVID towards considering, addressing, coping and treating with the impacts of the scourge so we could regenerate and grow more functional and equitable societies. In this way, the GLOCaL FEDs COVID Challenge looks to all to find opportunity to rebuild from the ashes and recreate more equitable, kind, conscientious systems that respond to people rather than just profits.
None of us know who or what would survive or what may be the full impact in the final tally, but with the revaluation that the impact of the disease is forcing on us and all systems, structures and mechanisms, we can begin to identify lessons learnt to strengthen our responses in ways that correct the social gaps inequalities and deficits and reset the bases for socio-economic recovery on which surviving generations can build.
Many of us in the developmental arena have been impacted by, experienced and witnessed the crippling grip of entrenched habitual practices from ingrained inequalities and ineptitudes across the development spectrum through institutions, agencies, systems and modes of operation.
From the fragmentation we are witnessing, and with foresight to not recreate the diseased systems and processes, we could emerge the stronger humanity as we utilise this time to return and restore developmental focus on the microscopic organic relationships among small and larger elements on which our world is structured.
