The MultiMedia MicroEpic will feature at Cineaste 2021, the International Film Festival of India.
Cineaste, a seven-day festival aims ‘to broaden the horizons of Films and Stories…in the age of OTT platforms and omnipresence of digital media.’
This presents the new creative genre and opens additional communities of interest in Indian-Australian, Asian-Pacific world to its novel thrust into multimedia education. It complements the escalating interest in the new creative genre, pioneered and introduced with One Night To Bloom the MultiMedia MicroEpic Biopic.
MotherContinent connects native and migrant cultures lands DNA
MotherContinent, the ‘middle earth’ component of the MultiMedia MicroEpic to be featured at Cineast,e explores and exposes ancient to modern, pre and post heritage interconnections centralised in the aesthetics of the Caribbean and Americas through indigeneous and migrant eco-cultural encounters that in turn connect their global diasporas.
MotherContinent includes segments as mDNA, – Mothers, Motherlands, MotherCultures of the native indigeneous and migrant global diasporas of the Caribbean and Americas. It builds from independent research and travel as an educator/explorer over the past three decades. It is inspired by Ma, the Nonagenarian, who remains its muse, despite her earthly exit last month.
MultiMedia MicroEpic inclusive creative aesthetic
The MultiMedia MicroEpic is conceptualised, created and piloted by Independent filmmaker, creator, writer, director, producer, Dr Kris Rampersad. It was introduced at InterChange 21, the Commonwealth Scholarships Commission virtual forum hosted by the British Council on International Women’s Day/Commonwealth Day 2021.
The MultiMedia MicroEpic was particularly created for new short form new media. It adapts the long from classical epic for short form multimedia while at the same time encompassing a range of traditional genres and form.
It has since seen global interests that span the diasporas of the Americas, Europe, Africa and now Asia-Pacific from among African, European, Native and Latin American and now Indo-Pacific communities. This speak to the aim for an all-encompassing, inclusive, creative idiom that reaches across socio-cultural, ethnic, linguistic, gender, age and other divisions as a mode for transmission of knowledge that unites the main tools and techniques of our times drawn from education, culture and media.
It aims to bridge the developmental silos and gaps and meet new challenges of the post pandemic planet. In theme and technique, it confronts inertia and stasis in development spheres, encouraging all sectors to refrain from dumbing down of blended and online engagement in any discipline. It promotes more effective utilization of new media in delivery of quality education, engagement and outreach to communities of interest.
