LITERARILY by Dr KRIS
DEMOCRACY
Origin Greek: democratia; from demos, people. French: democratie, Government by the people; A form of Government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them or their elected agents; a state having such a form of Government.
In a restricted sense, a state in which the supreme
power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them
rather than by their elected representatives; a state of society characterised by nominal equality of rights and privileges; political or social equality, democratic spirit.
In now times
A political system in which followers blindly endorse the agendas of a leader who convinces them his Government is working for their benefit.
There are many ways in which democracy get corrupted. It occurs when Governments overstep their powers and suppress people. It also occurs when people willingly surrender and abdicate their power and responsibilities to allow governments to think for them and so they become sycophants and willing slaves.
